About Angela

I am an experienced licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in private practice in Falls Church, Virginia. I work with individuals, couples, and families. I believes that clients have an innate ability to heal and I strive to meet them where they are in a non-pathologizing way.

I combine the art of psychotherapy with the science of change to help people identify and break out of patterned thoughts and behaviors that keep them stuck. My approach is collaborative, educational, and experiential. I welcome clients from all sexual, gender, cultural and spiritual orientations.

I have been studying and working in the field of mental health for more than 30 years. I earned my bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Nebraska, and a masters and Ph.D. in Family Studies & Human Development at the University of Arizona. For 17 years, I was a tenured associate professor in the Department of Human Development’s Marriage and Family Therapy Program at Virginia Tech in Falls Church, VA. I taught both clinical and research courses, supervised graduate students in their clinical work, and conducted and published research related to military families and adjustment.
